My true home has always been and will forever be in Hawaii. [/ QUOTE ] Gross generalization below. In my experience going to school with a ton of people from Hawaii, Hawaiians are overly proud and annoyingly so about being from Hawaii. If I hear another person who has lived in the continental US for more than three years talk about being "on Hawaii time," I think I'm gonna slap em. However, I admit that even more annoying are the people who lived there for a year and then decided that their Hawaiian. |

I searched this thread and there are not one, but THREE countries that I am the only 2p2er to ever have lived in?! And a fourth, India, where I lived for 2.5 years and only El Diablo has spent "a couple summers." That seems amazing and surprising to me. No one else has lived in South Africa, Ethiopia, or Morocco? God bless Mom and Dad and the US State Department for giving me a childhood I wouldn't trade for anything. [/ QUOTE ] I haven't posted yet: Age 0-18: Santa Barbara, CA 18-20: Irvine, CA with a 1-month stint in NYC 20-21: London, UK 21-22: Newport Beach, CA 22: Pietermaritzburg, South Africa (5 months) 22: Washington, DC (3 months) 22-23: all over the U.S. as a tour guide (PO Box in Los Angeles) 23-24: Sydney, Australia 24-present (ie: 25): Chicago, IL So, yes, I have lived in South Africa, if only for 5 months. Also, J-Mac, when I saw your first post I was going to ask if your parents worked for the State Department... I passed the Foreign Service Written Exam in April & am taking the Oral Exam in November. Hopefully my (have-yet-to-be-born-who-knows-when-they-will-be) kids will have childhoods very similar to yours!! |

'05-present Austin, TX [/ QUOTE ] My friend Mike recently moved to Austin and loves it. I'm seriously considering a move there. I found that the apartments are uber cheap. I'll have to look at jobs out there when I go home and see what the pay is like. [censored] the NE during the winter. I hate it. |
