Double checking because I got flamed for the next hour...
2900 runners, 549 paid.. we're down to about 50.
The table had been playing pretty tight and my image was tight because I hadn't had anything in about 3 orbits. The raise may not have been the best, but I thought that I could take it down preflop. Villain was the loosest player at the table. He was slightly tilting from just losing AK < AJ all-in PF. When he pushed, I put him on Ax or any pair, and was getting 2.75:1. Easy call? Also, any comments on whether you would fold preflop, open push, or played as-is? Re: Double checking because I got flamed for the next hour...
Looks ok to me. Why did you raise KQo UTG+1 though?

Re: Double checking because I got flamed for the next hour...
A couple factors made my decision to play the KQo UTG+1...
1) My image was super tight and probably pretty weak. I hadn't been in a hand in probably 3 orbits and hadn't defended my blinds in that time, either. 2) The table had turned pretty tight recently. Most preflop raises were taking down the pot pf. 3) I forgot to mention antes in my OP.. The antes at this point were 1K, so there was already 39k in the pot and I was about to eat the blinds for another 30k. The tourney chipleader had just passed 1MM at this point and I needed to start accumulating chips to make the FT. I was willing to start taking risks because of the flat payout structure. 20% payout tourneys suck. |

Re: Double checking because I got flamed for the next hour...
reasons 1, 2, and the second half of 3 are totally worthless
the antes make it close, but it's probably still a fold |

can't believe people are telling you told fold KQ preflop in EP. I raise it MOSt of the time.

Re: Double checking because I got flamed for the next hour...
Definetly push/fold situation, you cant really standard raise then fold, so its best to just shove. Standard raising here is bad. I lean towards folding, our stack size is such that we can go through the blinds without killing us, Im definitely looking for a good spot in the next orbit or 2.
I just realized you said you were getting 2.75 to 1, your math is off your getting like 1.75 to 1, 60k + your stack size + 18k = ~320k and you have to call ~180k. |
