Default Dressing up as Steve Irwin for Halloween

Was just wondering in the wake of the south park episode causing so much controversy what the general consensus is on dressing up as Steve Irwin (and having someone else dressed up as a stringray) for halloween is.

For those who missed the controversy:

In hindsight "Funny" isn't really the word i'm after.. More like "Good Costume" it would most likely get old after an hour

Bad idea I think. Not offensive IMO, just too many people will do it, and everyone who does it thinks they are being really original.

What effect are you going for? Because at most youll get one laugh and the joke is over, at worst youll get one beating, and your night is over.

I don't plan on doing it, but FWIW I know no one will do it, and I know everyone going and no one will be overly offended by it.

Just curious.

What would be funnier is having a friend dress as a stingray and go to the party/club/whatever alone. Then show up later as Irwin and stand across the room staring at each other. You could go many places with this.

I knew a guy who went as that golfer who died in a plane crash (stuart payne?) -

quite the old style dresser - so my friend went as the golfer's corpse that yr had he been dressed for the court (plaid shorts, hat, funny - probably tasteless had any of the golfer's family been at the party, of course...

I say go for it - crikey.
