I don't have TOO much of an aversion to 5-max.
But so frequently it seems to die down to 4 and then 3 players very quickly.
And then all the other games are jam-packed with 5.

At 6-max I think the games continue a bit better.

But overall I feel like I can adapt decently to either. and have been playing more 3 and 4 handed as well and have felt I've done decently so far.

Many of the players who are clamoring for 6-max want it because that's the game they know from Party or Absolute or wherever.
They are SO used to 6-max because they've done it over and over again that they feel they are a bit out of their element on the 5-max tables.

WSEX secures all financial transactions through HTTPS. We do not force HTTPS for sign on to the wsex.com website. There is little motivation for people to compromise a customer account because of our tight security at the deposit and withdrawal layer.

So you are telling me that even if someone got my username and password, WSEX security measures would keep the theif from withdrawing the money? What if they knew my name and where I live? (Easily done if you're snooping web traffic.) I have my doubts about that proposition.

You certainly couldn't stop them from dumping the money onto a table where a couple of accomplices were sitting.

Securing username and password is the single top thing that anyone can do to protect their online accounts. It is an obvious breach of basic security to send those over the internet unencrypted.

Please do press those programmers. I'll be happy to bet on sports again at WSEX after you've made this upgrade.

Thanks,
Benjamin

We have been doing it this way for 10 years and have not had any issues.

But, I will press our programmers to set up a secure log on for WSEX if it makes people more comfortable. (Spare me your jokes please, it's a completely different team that handles the sportsbook programming and the reputation and reliability of our sportsbook software is beyond reproach.)

Fred,

someone with my username and password, can still do harm to me, even if they cant directly withdraw the money from my account. Ever heard of chip dumping?

Are you telling me the same customer support team that tells me they cant find my hand history on their end (When provided with the correct number) when I send them an aces never lose email, is going to be able to sort out a chip dump, AND refund my money? That would indeed be pretty impressive because none of the other poker sites can do that.

I dont mean for this post to sound like a slam, Im just trying to explain why its a little naive to think that just cuz there isnt a problem in the past doesnt mean there wont be one in the future, or that having a customer log in unsecured is a perfectly acceptable thing just because the cashiers are secure.

Am I the only one who's noticed that WPEX doesn't handle dead buttons in tournaments correctly? This effectively allows some players to skip the big blind when there should be a dead button. Instead of the button being on the empty seat, it moves on to the next seated player.

100% correct. Also, it is common for users to reuse the same password for several accounts. If someone sniffs their logon to the WSEX site, they might be obtaining that user's password to other sportsbooks, other poker sites, other bank accounts, etc. You wouldn't even know if you've "ever had a problem" because those users might not associate their misfortune elsewhere with your web site.

And finally, anticipating a possible response: You should not hide behind how unwise it might be for customers to reuse their passwords. As a service provider dealing in the realm of real money transactions, you should be securing usernames and passwords ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE they are used just as a matter of routine. You may believe the cashiers are secure, but no one can anticipate all possible attack vectors that can be dreamed up by hackers, so the number one rule is to assume the worst and be as secure as possible at every possible layer.

So, in conclusion, have your team secure the page, and quickly. It's a 100% obvious requirement for a web provider and frankly a little absurd that we even have to point it out, especially in light of claims of being a world-class operation.

There are some excellent points here and I will make the same arguments with the programmers.

Make it possible to reload before the next hand starts. It's intensely annoying to lose xBB on one hand and have to go into the next hand short-stacked, or sit out a hand altogether if you lost an all-in.

In other words, the reload should allow you to top up to the maximum buy-in based on your stack size at the time of requesting the reload - not what it was at the start of the hand. If I stack someone for less than a full buy-in it should be my fault for playing short-stacked, not a software error.

what about accessing the previous hole cards from the last hand? They could make it a hell of a lot more accessible.

Fix the occasional disconnects and make tables at least smaller if you can't make them resizeable.
