I mean, why compound the initial mistake of playing underolled by multitabling and thus potentially multiplying your losses? [/ QUOTE ] How the [censored] do people get the idea that playing hands faster will increase your losses? |

[ QUOTE ] I think multitabling is not a big factor when having a short roll unless you are a tilt monkey. [/ QUOTE ] Disagree. Multitabling should require you to be overolled, not under. I mean, why compound the initial mistake of playing underolled by multitabling and thus potentially multiplying your losses? Isn't having room for substantial losses the whole point of a healthy BR in the first place? [/ QUOTE ] Playing more tables does not increase variance...in fact, it reduces the time that bad streaks last because you are getting more hands in. All things being equal, you do not require any more of a bankroll to 8 table as you do to 1 table (all things being equal refers to the inevitable point where you begin to play worse with too many tables, i.e. 25 tabling). |

I started with a very shallow bankroll - I regret it.
OP start at $25NL if all you got is $750. Get a few K hands under your belt and once you got the hang of online play vs live move up to $50NL (if you can't beat $25 you don't have a prayer at $50 - and most live play is about the same standard as $25NL (so I am told)) standard bankroll requirements are 20 buyins for comfort - I'd start taking shots at 15 buys and take it from there. gl. |

yeah but in practice you do need a slightly bigger BR to multitable, simply because you need to get the money on the table. I had to get more $$ when my ftp account dropped to $2.5k today because I didnt have enough to 10 table.
yuo can just about 4-table NL100 with $750 i guess, but i'd generally want 2 buyins per table that i play. OP, i think you should only play NL50 right now, NL100 is harder than NL200 live. |

i've heard LOTS of people say that online 100nl is easier than online 50nl - any truth to this?

I started taking poker not too seriously a short while ago.. While i started at NL100 with a 130 roll i found i was making calls i shouldn't because the money value was not much to me, i was making bad calls just to see coz he couldnt hit runner runner flush. At NL100 i built my roll up to 500 and back down too 200 making those stupid calls i mentioned in a day or so. So i moved up to NL200 and feel i'm much more suited, have built my roll to a little over 1k now in just under two days and have stoped making those calls, or as many of them...
So i guess i would advise do what you feel comfortable with, where thats at you'll probably play your best poker... Or should i say, where you're happy with the amount your winning in pots but cautious at the same time... |

NL50 is easier in general, but if you've played NL100 or NL200 for a prolonged period of time NL50 is harder than NL100. It's because the style of play that you face from the 'regulars' is very different from what u get at NL100/NL200. Also for the bad players are just stupid, whilst at NL100/NL200 the bad players are stupid but in the 'i played with my buddies and pwned them all, so obviously I know how to beat online poker for mega $$$ YO!'. at NL50 its just so retarded sometimes I think i have to drop a level of thinking just so that I dont outplay myself. Also I've found playing lower is hard because when someone 3-bets me its not really much money at all and i pay off all kinds of random [censored] just cos i can
That, imo, is where the rumour that NL50 is harder comes from. I may be wrong, but i think i'm right. |

If you've rarely or never played online you really need to start at lower limits, at least just for a little while so you can make sure you're used to everything.

i think $50NL sounds good for me - 15 buyins plus a bit more from the deposit bonus.
I will keep in mind what tufat said, in that you basically have to just play your hand since your opponents have no idea what they're doing. When I get up to $1/$2 i figure i can start thinking like the discussion in SSNL threads. I don't plan to bluff more than once in a blue moon. Another question: Can anyone give me a good link to where to get Rakeback on FTP? |
