This is a trivally easy push IMO. You are ahead here almost always. [/ QUOTE ] And instacall the river. |

[/ QUOTE ] You guys don't think there's something to be said for just calling to allow him to potentially keep bluffing or to make a curious river call with a PP or something like A9? I know that there are plenty of worse hands that he could call our turn push with (such as any 2), but he might fold some decent second best hands to our push though (if he can't beat the big PP which he might put us on). |

Let's go to the next street... Flop: ($4.25) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) Turn: ($9.25) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) BB checks, Preytar bets $8, BB raises to $25, Preytar calls $17. River: ($59.25) 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) BB bets $51 (All-In), Preytar? Now what? Brian [/ QUOTE ] Well he probably doesn't have a 5 here because that would have been a ballsy turn check raise with a lone 5. I think you need to call because he's probably either got a monster like 99 or else nothing, such as a missed draw. |

I felt I should have pushed the turn, but I just could not pull the trigger. I'm not upset about villain's hand, and I think I learned a lot from the way he played it. I don't see any way around losing my money here. I'm learning. Thanks for the replies.
River: ($59.25) 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) BB bets $51 (All-In), Preytar calls $51. BB has 5s 5d (four of a kind, fives). Preytar has Ac 2c (full house, twos full of fives). Outcome: BB wins $161.25. Brian |

That flop bet isn't big enough. You want fold equity on the flop. You should be betting closer to pot, not setting your price to draw.
Note that villian is an idiot who lets you set your price to draw, and could have gotten his ass handed to him if that turn had been a club. |

I am surprised everyone pushes here.
The villains line is one we see a dozen times a night. Its the vintage flopped set slowplay. Before I started leading my sets... for a year or two I did this exact line everytime I had a set. (note- I've been returning to this line at some tables because I've been folding out too many lags who will bet any flop checked to them but have been getting too suspicious of people who lead into them.) |
