Default Pot it, again, and again

so I gave up playing LO8 for a while and started playing a lot of PL HI/LO & HI. I've just given up on betting any but the pot most of the time, is this awful?

i started changing up the size of my bets to give myself better odds when i make continuation bets and bluffs. it you are totally completely nut peddling then i dont think its bad.

It just depends on what I think people will call, assuming I want callers. If i notice that someone will call anything with just one way locked, then I will pot pot pot again if I have a good scooping hand/draw. Also, the more people in the hand, the more likely I will be to bet the pot, obviously. If I am up against a better oponent then I might try to suck him in with increasing bet sizes and "fancier" play.

I kind of stick to the pot bet only style, but I sat down at a cap PL game on Full Tilt and I found that a pot bet on the turn sometimes forced me to bet a TINY amount on the river. It kinda sucked, I sat down at this table and the very first hand I was dealt was A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], I checked, after two limpers and the SB called, and the flop came 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 10 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. After the SB checked I bet the pot, and only the small blind checked. After he checked the turn K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], I realized that betting the pot would only let me bet like 1/8 of the pot on the river, so I figured I could get him to invest the cap limit by betting 3/4 of the pot. He ended up calling the turn and river, and turned over and flopped ace high flush.

As a side note, does anyone think I played this wrong? Like I said, this was my very first hand at the table and I had no reads.
