Posting in the "Making Big Life Decisions" thread, I remembered a huge one: The Quarter-Life Crises. Yes, it's for real. Yes, it happens to the best of us. Yes, it sucks while you in it. But, the thing is, it is totally normal - graduating college leaves about 1 million decisions to make: Your crises is not unique!

Black,

"I think the one I hate the worst is when someone gets a Diet Coke with obviously non diet food. "I'll have a quarter pounder with cheese meal with a Diet Coke". ZOMG LOLZ LAWLZ LAWS. Why would you bother, I mean, you are eating at McDonald's, you may as well have a 68 oz cup of liposuction runoff for your drink, LOOOOOL LOOOOL. So obnoxious."

Could you clarify what it is you think is obnoxious?

El D,

The people lolzing at the Diet Coke consumption with the fast food are the obnoxious ones. There can be several reasonable explanations (like it better, can't have sugary soda, etc.) Also, this is the only situation where saving calories is an all or nothing. No one says to the guy having a QP meal with a regular Coke "WOW WHY DON'T YOU JUST GET THE DOUBLE QP MEAL FATTY FAT FAT". Isn't 900 calories better than 1200? Who cares how you arrive at it? Plus, a selection of, say, water, wouldn't draw derision, only the Diet Coke.

Hope this helps. Also, I have your back on the monkey comment, it has been around a long time, similar to the "can't steal 2nd with your foot on 1st" line.

Personally (I don't know if it's the corn syrup or what) "regular" sodas tend to give me a stomachache, so I've been drinking diet sodas for about 15 years now.

PJ - haha nice topic. Not exactly on point, but when people "knowingly" use phrases that are really lame or stale. The one that (honestly this boggles my mind) that leaps to mind is "jump the shark."

I like the "that is not authentic [insert cuisine]". Especially true when people say that about Mexican in LA.

Cool. Upon first read, I thought you were making the stalest observation ever. I agree that pointing out the fatass w/ the diet coke is pretty played out.

skunk and others,

Shajenism? Hahahhaha.

That joke/saying is super old.

It has even been in movies and stuff.

When discarding his former girlfriend while in a standoff with Ethan Hunt,
Sean Ambrose: "Women are like monkeys. They never leave one branch until they've got another one to climb onto."

[/ QUOTE ]
I used this one this past weekend with the express intent of being lame, but it also described a friend of mine to a t. Amazingly, I was surprised to find out a few people actually did think it was somewhat clever.

Anything about how dumb Bush is. Please don't. It's so incredibly played out.
