Re: Poker Rarity - What are the odds???
I do not know the math but I have seen 3 of my opponents flop a club flush in a four handed game. One of those clubs was a nine to match my pair so needless to say I got clobbered.
I have only seen it one time in about 3 years. |

Re: Poker Rarity - What are the odds???
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] The answer is, you cannot tell (without knowing how many players are in the game). Both of the math calculations above assume the simplest case where there are exactly three players. (Okay, maybe two players is simpler: probability zero.) [/ QUOTE ] This is wrong. It just becomes a ridiculous equation. [/ QUOTE ] Say what? Are you sure you read it correctly? What are you contradicting? |

Re: Poker Rarity - What are the odds???
Trust me when I say I am not trying to be a smart ass.
But why does it really matter. I thought this section would be for trying to figure out realistic probabilities to help us with our poker games. Now knowing the probability of another player having a flush when you flop a flush could be useful. Actually I would like to know these odds. But something that has a million to one or what ever, I don't see the point. |

Re: Poker Rarity - What are the odds???
I think it is safe to say that this is RARE. And you shouldn't spend to much time concerning yourself with the exact number. If you just understand that it is RARE and play accordingly the rest should work itself out. Don't get too stressed about the exact #. You would never have time to calculate something like this at the table so don't sweet it.

Re: Poker Rarity - What are the odds???
Happened two nights ago in my home game - crazier thing is I had A high, another had K high and my other buddy had Q high. It just brought a nice laugh from the table - and then they bought back in.
Rare, but not impossible. |
