next guy 3 bets(straight-forward/passive), [/ QUOTE ] then why not just check/call the turn and check/fold the river if he bets? by bet/folding you're putting in the same number of bets but giving up the chance to spike a possible 5 outer. |

don't think i could c/f river since we may have the same hand, but maybe that's a leak.

Against this particular opponent your bet/fold line is perfect cuz this guy's not raising the turn with a hand like KK on this board, so you dont have to worry about bet/folding a 5 outer. And if this guy has a hand like AK or TT, he may not bet the turn.
BTW, the call down play discussed in HPFAP is not a good line against straight forward passive players in this spot cuz if you check/call down you'll always be paying the max when youre losing and winning the minimum when youre ahead. So against these type of players you should usually be taking one of these 3 lines: 1) Call flop, donk turn 2) Call flop, call turn, donk river 3) check/raise flop, lead turn IMO, the line you chose is the best possible line on this specific board. There is not enough value in your hand to checkraise the flop, and theres no need to get to the river on this board vs this opponent. You played this hand very well. |

I think HFAP is still the best line here for whats it worth. Sarge[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] |

edit after rereading...
If you think he's passive enough to never bet the turn with worse than AQ, check/calling the flop and check/folding the turn is the route to go. I'd probably check/call, check/call and bet/fold absent of an 8, 10 or K. In those cases, i'd check/fold. |
