If I have to eat 4-6 times per day is it ok to have 2 protein shakes as "meals" since I can't really cook that many times per day?

I'm in the getting started category and need to lose a lot of fat.

Protein shakes make great meals a couple hours before and right after worksouts. But don't just mix some whey protein in with water and call it good. Instead add some real beneficial ingredients to it to make it worth your time. Things like banannas, flax, cottage cheese, natural peanut butter, and skim milk will make your shake enjoyable, beneficial, and truly a meal replacement.

Just keep in mind that "drinking" ameal usually means the nutrients in it are more fast acting than whole foods. So, they are perfect around workouts when the body needs to deliver the biggest amount of nutrients in the smallest amount of time. But when wanting a slow burn of energy (ie. breakfast and right before bedtime) you will want slower burning foods like chicken and cottage cheese (casein)

This instantly discredits most of your post. A properly balanced diet should include a decent percentage of fat from calories.

You seem to have no grasp of macronutrients and how they work in your body.

You only need about 2.5% of calories from fat. If you added no fat/oil to your foods, you would already meet this requirement. But thanks for trying.

Sources?

"The Sub-Committee on Nutrition of the United Nations, of which the World Health Organization is a member, recommends that the lower limit of fat intake be 15% of calories for most adults."

"Research shows that international elite athletes eat diets ranging from 15% to 49% of calories from fat or 1.1g to 4.3g per kilogram body weight. These wide ranges reflect the diverse needs and dietary practices of successful athletes."

Why are you quoting athletes? They need as many calories as they can fit in them since they use so much energy. They are the total opposite of those trying to lose weight. But thanks for trying again.

JackAll,

I can see why you used to be a fitness trainer and are no longer one. I wonder... Are you ACE certified? Do steroids really not work?

LD,
The most important thing in this is your dieting by far. You could do burpees 3x a week for 20 minutes and lose those last pounds if you eat correctly. BTW start [censored] keeping a food log if your ever wanna get serious about this and a training log. Start writing [censored] down and see whats working and what isn't.
