Default Seneca Niagara Freeroll Tournament: A Scam or False Advertising?

Throughout the year, the 3 pokerrooms in the Seneca circle (Niagara Falls, Irving, and Salamanca) have been holding their "First __________ of the Month Tournament". (The blank meaning each of the rooms do it on a different day). Attached with these tournaments is the promotion: "Make it to the final table and be automatically entered into the end of the year freeroll at the Irving location." Guess where the money comes from for this "so-called freeroll"? If you guessed out of the generous pockets of the big wigs of the Seneca Nation, you are sadly mistaken... Apparently, this money for the "freeroll" is being taken right out of the prize pools of these tournaments. Am I the only one that is a bit irritated knowing this? How can you advertise something like that as a promotion when its money coming out of your prize pool in a tournament you bought into? If you are going to have a "freeroll" of some kind, don't you have to at least find a fancy way of hiding where the money comes to pay for it? (an example being the Station casinos requiring you to play X amount of hours to qualify...thus increasing their rake drop over time to fund most/all of it). Just thought I would throw this topic out there and see what the 2+2ers thought about it...

Dicey haven't you figured out there are about 4 2p2ers that play there. The rest are fish. They don't care. Most the "regulars" know this goes on or atleast realized it some time ago. Like most things seneca I always ask where the money goes lol

They increase their rake drop over that time, but none of that money goes to the freeroll. The freeroll is funded from the jackpot fund (the player's money).

Shhhh

Check out buffalopoker.com for an interesting discussion between a bunch of Seneca regulars...online tourney, 100/200 blinds folded to SB who pushes for 9000, BB (poster) called with KK and lost when SB spiked an ace. Discussion ensued as to whether KK should be folded there because "I'm only 70/30 if he has an ace."

Yay Seneca regulars
