every year or so when i get to the point that i dont want to play i take a month or 2 off. since i dont play for a living theres no issue. during that time i usually find the latest "must read" poker book and read it backwards and forwards. within 2 weeks-2 months i suddenly find myself....WANTING to play again(GASP!)

unless online poker is your job why play when you dont want to? this is my hobby not my job.

when i got bored of limit, NL totally re-engergized me. now that i'm bored of NL it's a little tougher.

i find that not playing for a few days and talking poker with friends during that time usually works. i'll IM one of my couple of friends who play the same games i do and talk about abstract, advanced concepts that are actually interesting even if they can't really be used in day to day grinding. i also talk to my non poker friends who play NL50 recreationally and try to teach them, sometimes its just fristrating if they don't get things that seems simple, but most of my friends are smart people and can pick up on stuff and teaching them can be fun and rewarding. also if the reason i'm unmotivated is a bad run, it can be motivating to talk poker since it makes me feel good about my game and get's me wanting to get back to the tables and win.

lastly, right now i'm bored of poker too, and i think the legislation has really hurt my desire to play, and have been playing very little the last couple weeks.
