pf: consider reraising because you're probably ahead of his range unless he is extremely tight.

flop: Why are you c/ring?

I usually 3 bet this, but i posted this hand below and made me think that calling might be better?

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...page=&vc=1

But im obviously lumping two situations very different from each other together...

Im check raising because I'd probably get a fold from 99-QQ, where as if i lead out i'd just get a call and not know where im at. Also once i get a check raise called i know im done. If i check call or lead out and get called im kind of lost... Also ive been pretty LAGy at the table + raising limps/Cbetting so he might float me a good % of the time, and then im lost....

This is my train of though, let me know what i should be thinking/doing... thx for comments

I prolly give up to the flop bet.

Once he calls the cr, I'm done with it.

As for the 77 hand, that is certainly an ok way to play the hand. Calling is ok too, but as you realize, playing OOP with a marginal hand without the initiative can be very tricky.

This is why a read would help. There is no "correct line" here without a decent read. There are lines that are better than others, but given an unknown, let's think about your options.

c/r- This obviously puts you in a crappy spot when called, and it is effectively a bluff against most players. However, it is the quickest way to find out if your hand is any good, but probably not the most EV.

c/c- This makes the turn a little tricky depending on what card comes out but has the benefit of picking up a cbet in most situations. Betting most turns that don't include broadway cards is often a decent strategy in this spot.

lead- I think this is the worst of the options as it's susceptible to floating and generally weak. It misses a cbet and leaves you folding the turn alot.

Of all these options, I prefer c/c, lead or c/c, fold. Remember, you are trying to play a small pot with this hand.

PREFLOP: Is usually either a fold or reraise -- maybe a call if you want to try and get a cheap showdown (however, this can be difficult when oop--and definitely shouldn't be played for set value only).

FLOP: Check-raise is fine. But don't do it for info. Do it because the flop is unlikely to have hit your opponent.

ALTERNATIVE LINES:
check call flop. check fold turn. (this one is popular in the forums)
check call flop. lead turn. (this one was written in an article by a well known poster)
