I'm sorry but playing your emo punk band music is not exactly the civil rights movement. [/ QUOTE ] Legally assembling even if it is only to play "your emo punk band music" is part of the civil rights movement. Do you see why? |

Re: My little brothers band gets pwned by the cops
For the record I hate cops, a lot.
However, I do understand their need to use force when someone is resisting arrest. The police need to be in complete control of the situation as their lives are on the line. Sure, you know that these were some of the most harmless kids in the world but the police do not know these kids from common thugs and don't have the time to do a background check. That kid was resisting and the police officer did what was necessary to gain control of the situation. This is what the police are trained and expected to do. This doesn't even come close to unnecessary force. You hippies need to see some real police brutality. |

Abhorrent behaviour by the police. Everyone arrested needs a criminal lawyer and Harry should get a civil lawyer. Indeed, they all should as false arrest and false imprisonment are both actionable. The video is good, and any defence lawyer hearing the police officer's comment about having his salary paid is going to cringe and start thinking about how to avoid having a judge hear that.

Re: My little brothers band gets pwned by the cops
First off just sitting down isnt resisiting arrest (you will not go to jail for it) they have the right to cuff you assuming they have reason but sitting down is not a felony.
Second it takes less than 5 minutes to do a backround check not that everything is electronic (which is what some of our tax money paid for) Third cops arent very smart people (thats why they are cops) and ALWAYS ALWAYS try to cover their asses. |

Re: My little brothers band gets pwned by the cops
The stupidity in this thread is astounding. If a suspect is refusing to be cuffed, the PO has no way of knowing how far the suspect will go to continue resisting arrest. The use of force is acceptable, and the force used by the police in this video is very minimal.
The cops turned out to be incorrect about the unlawfull assemby, but what do you expect them to do? It is up to the DA and the judicial system to determine if a crime has been commited or not, not the cops on the scene. They had reasonable suspicion that there was a crime and acted apropriatly. |

Re: My little brothers band gets pwned by the cops
Meh, seems like everyone involved seems douchey. The kids with the smirks and the cheering probably wasnt great for the situation, the fact that no one presented the permit to teh cops, or at least said "hey, we have a permit" (unless I missed this??), and the cops obviously just wanted to stick it to what they thought were punk kids, which is unacceptable of course.
