Re: HARRAH\'S ACQUIRES BARBARY COAST

Question, would this end up being the home of the WSOP? [/ QUOTE ] I don't think so. But, if they have the convention space to go with the casino and hotel, it's possible. There are constant rumors about the WSOP moving to Caesars Palace. But, the Rio has everything the WSOP needs. There's no reason to make a move. |

Moving to Caesars makes sense because the company is renaming itself Caesar's something-or-other.

Re: HARRAH\'S ACQUIRES BARBARY COAST
The big plans for the entire chunk of space haven't been revealed yet... inside gossip is where the "Ballys to be blown up for new Horseshoe" rumor comes from, and it makes sense since Harrah's considers the Horseshoe name one of their four top brands (Harrah's, Caesars, and the WSOP being the other three), and would want to bring the name back to Vegas.
IP/O'Sheas/Barbary Coast are all locks to go kaboom with Ballys right behind it... I can't see a way for them to save the Flamingo from a similar fate, unless the new plans incorporate some kind of "old time Vegas" motif that would involve the Flamingo and Horseshoe names (I only just thought of this, there's been zip said about anything of the sort). I can't see the Harrah's/Casino Royale surviving either if Harrah's plans to build all new on the entirety of the acreage. Paris is the seemingly only safe casino from internal combustion. OTOH, I can't see a company wanting to blow up a majority of their properties in one fell swoop. The project, at best, I estimate, is going to take a full decade to complete. |

I'll also miss the Stardust. First place I ever played. I was in junior high in the mid 70's and they didn't care. Talk about good customer service. lol [/ QUOTE ] Me also. |

Re: HARRAH\'S ACQUIRES BARBARY COAST
Harrah's has been rumored to knock down IP, O'sheas, BC and everything behind that it owns like the old Bourbon Street to build a massive Flamingo.

This is the last straw for me. I'm "officially" on a Harrah's boycott. Gaming is a business which should never be monopolized. [/ QUOTE ] Make sure you take a good look at the map of who owns what. All that green is MGM - so you can't go there either. But the Wynn, Venetian and Frontier will all still welcome you. This is a tiny property that they acquired, and it sits next to six other tiny properties. Caesars is the only large property in that grouping, and it is on the other side of the strip. Also, see the proposed buyout. See what happened when the Hard Rock got bought out. Plans can change in an instant. |

The BC is a hole just like the old original Castaways. Can't wait to see it fall. IP sucks too. I'll miss the Flamingo. Great pool area... I'll also miss the Stardust. First place I ever played. I was in junior high in the mid 70's and they didn't care. Talk about good customer service. lol [/ QUOTE ] BC was great for a cheap drunk though, especially after getting your a$$ handed to you in the Bellagio poker room. I'll miss it. |

Cabbie told me last weekend the Frontier was bought and will be flattened. Can't happen too soon.
