Morality in a Web Business
I have an idea (another) for a website that would be a dating/hooking-up guide while falsely quantifying certain approaches.
Is this very immoral? I could create a whole community around it and have membership (free, offering premium, etc) with many BS'd documents I can whip up. I'm not even good with women, but I certainly can tell them men what they want to hear. Then, back it up with fake data (maybe ask a couple girls on AIM what they think, if that). Thoughts. |

Re: Morality in a Web Business
There's all kinds of websites out there that lie. However once word gets out that your website is garbage how do you expect to make any (more) money?
If I'm going to subscribe to any type of site I do a quick Google search for the website name or product name. It's saved me plenty of money from joining garbage internet marketing websites. Anyway, http://www.fastseduction.com/ is already very well known in the niche you're talking about. |

I have a couple caveats that I would employ.

Re: Morality in a Web Business
It does not matter that you are on the web, the same basic business principles apply. If you want to be truey successful, you need to be open, honest, and direct with all of your customers. You might be able to make a few quick bucks in the short run by being deceptful, but people will catch on quickly and it will cost you greatly in the long run.
The key to success is becoming a business where your reputation is worth more than you can afford to lose. |

Actually this isn't true at all, lots of successful people have been total dirtbags but the question you should be asking yourself is what the price of reputation and self respect is to you. Personally I'd hate to wake up in the morning just to see a douchebag in the mirror everyday

This seems likely. |

Re: Morality in a Web Business
Eh, it's really not that bad. How is this any different than creating fake MySpace profiles to hock a product? I mean, as long as you just have a few fakes on your site to get the ball rolling. If you're planning on having an ENTIRELY fake site that provides nothing you claim, then yeah, that's just stupid and I wouldn't do it.

Re: Morality in a Web Business
if your website is junk you will not attract much of a 'community'.
