$1-$2 NL Live: Iffy river push
Villain is very aggro but plays premium hands mostly. I have a bit of a nitty image after showing a few big laydowns.
Hero $415 Villain $320 Button $240 Hero is dealt T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] in the BB Villain is straddling for $4. MP calls. Button calls. Hero calls. Villian raises to $25. MP folds. Button calls. Hero calls. Flop: A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Hero checks. Villain bets $25. Button calls. Hero calls. Turn: 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Hero checks. Villain checks. Button checks. River: K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Hero bets $50. Villain pushes for $285. When Villain put the brakes on for the turn after a weakish flop bet, I put him on a large PP scared of the Ace. AA didn't seem likely since he wasn't punishing the FD. Is my hand disguised enough to get this push from AK? Or am I horribly beat? |

Fold preflop to the straddle's raise. Lead or c/r flop. Lead turn. River looks like KK got there, but you're getting about 3.5:1. Pretty read-dependednt imo.
edit: whoops, you're getting ~2:1. Leaning towards a fold. |

Re: $1-$2 NL Live: Iffy river push
Yeah, I misplayed a bit. I hadn't been limping with bad hands much and he couldn't really put me on a 7. But given the action, it smelled too much like KK making it on the river. That's what I get for trying to be fancy on the turn.

Re: $1-$2 NL Live: Iffy river push
Why are you calling a $25 pot with 10 7?
Thats what happens when you slow play a hand, you can get yourself into big trouble well you may get some value you often allow a player to hit, unless you have the nuts then slow playing is not on for mine, each to there own though. For mine i would have put him on a AK KK and would have been iffie with the call. |

Re: $1-$2 NL Live: Iffy river push
You should lead the flop with the intention of getting it all in. Yeah, you are semi-deep, but your hand is awesome by the flop. So, I think you should either bet/3-bet all in, or c/r big and shove most turns.
As played, given the cc on the flop, I would probably either lead the turn or check with the intention of raising a bet. River kindve sucks, I would probably put him on something like KK. |

Lead or c/r flop i would like to find a way to get all in on the turn.
No reason to call raise preflop was this table 3 handed? |

Re: $1-$2 NL Live: Iffy river push
I should clarify that this table was kind of funny in terms of PF raises. Standard PF raise is 5-6x BB or 5-6x straddle. I know I was playing a bad hand OOP. My goal here was to hit the flop hard and get him to stack off with overpair vs flopped 2, or some other big flop. He wasn't good at getting away from hands.
I was hoping for a turn c/r but he didn't keep firing. Misplayed like crazy. I just wanted to make sure it really did look like KK making it, and not an AK donkoff. I managed to get him to stack off to me about 10 hands later when I actually did flop two pair, so I don't feel like I left chips on the table. |
