American about how computer geeks were changing the face of mathematics by solving problems with something called monte carlo simulations.

Can you recommend any basic books on Monte Carlo simulations? I've recently become interested in the topic.

Looks like i'm the youngin of the forum so far lol

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm amazed how young everyone is, considering how high the average age of a stud player must be in a B&M

[/ QUOTE ]

That is very true, almost all live stud games are composed of people 40+

[/ QUOTE ]

At 38, I'm usually the youngest at the table.

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually, I will tell you a secret. I am the OP. Someone posted this same thread in the multitable tournament forum. Most of the people said they were in their 20s, with a few in their 30s, and fewer in their 40s. Tournaments have recently become poplular, so I figured that was the explanation. I decided to post this in the Stud forum to see if the average age was older. It is somewhat older here, but not much.

Well, I've been lurking a bit in the stud forum for a couple of weeks now, so I guess this is a good thread for my first 2+2 post:

How old are you?
20 years old, which makes me one the youngest here, I'm afraid. Birthday in September.

Where do you live?
Denmark. Just another one of those Scandinavian poker players.

Are you married? Girlfriend/Boyfriend? Children?
Single, and no children that I'm aware of..

If studying, what?
German studies at the University of Southern Denmark

Favorite Movie?
Difficult to choose, so I'll just list a few: Citizen Kane, Grapes of Wrath, A Clockwork Orange. The Lord of the Rings is also up there. And I can watch Rounders over and over again.

Music?
I've always liked Queen.

Best poker acomplishment? How long been playing?
I haven't really accomplished anything (yet?) I've only been playing a little less than a year, and it's only very recently that I've become interested in stud. This forum has already helped me in some marginal situations and I feel that my overall game is improving thanks to stud. And finally my bankroll is going in the right direction.

Other things?
Hobbies: I like to watch all kinds of sports and I'm a sprinter in the local athletics club. I also enjoy playing chess, but to be honest I'm not that good.

I don't know of any. Are you interested in writing them or using them? There have been several 2+2 posters who have been quite knowledgeable about them over the years, active posters Blank Frank and fnord_too come to mind. Buzz on the O8 board uses them expertly, but I don't think he writes them, he uses the Wilson products.

I'll try and track down the original article and see if it is on the net somewhere.

How does a monte carlo simulation differ from a regular simulation?
