2/4: Bet into twice with TPTK on scary board.
I've raised villains big blind a couple of times and he has called twice. The first time we checked it down and his KQ was good. The second he just folded to my c-bet on an A-high flop.
Do I just need to fold here on the flop? Turn? Do I valuebet the river? Re: 2/4: Bet into twice with TPTK on scary board.
It's not THAT scary a board. I don't think it's terrible to check river, it's a fairly thin value bet. It's also possible that he figures you have AK or QK and that he won't get another bet from his TT or whatever, so he wants to checkraise you.
I'd probably still value bet though. KJ and KQ could both conceivably do this too. |

Re: 2/4: Bet into twice with TPTK on scary board.
Unfortunately given that board his possible hands include a whole bunch of pair+draw or two pair hands.
I think the play is fine but a more interesting questions is what do you do if he makes a smallish $100 block on the river. |

Do I just need to fold here on the flop? [/ QUOTE ] God no, way too weak-tight. [ QUOTE ] Turn? [/ QUOTE ] Possibly. I mean, you have no idea where you are and if you kinda have to expect him to bet river, right? I'm very interested in hearing what some of the better players/posters have to say. On second thought, I think I definitely call the turn bet. I think he has AK/KQ/KJ here often enough to make the call. If he bets big again on river, that's decision time. [ QUOTE ] Do I valuebet the river? [/ QUOTE ] I do. I'd bet $120 or more if you think he'll check-raise bluff you. I doubt he will. His hand looks like it has showdown value, but won't call a big bet. I think I'd bet for sure, though. |

Looks like a thin value bet. I wouldn't blame you for just checking it though.

I value bet this river all day every day. Bet 99.99.
He will call you down a lot with worse hands here. |

Re: 2/4: Bet into twice with TPTK on scary board.
Against weak players your hand is nearly always good here and they will call an obvious value bet because they can't read hands. Against a tougher player the check is fine because they will have a good idea of what you have and won't make many mistakes. They are also more likely to try something tricky against you... like going for a checkraise.

[/ QUOTE ] i agree, how can u not expect the villian to raise the river...that being said, i definitely don't mind the river check, heck, i might even fold on the turn... u shoulda raised on the flop to see the strength of ur hand and to take the lead back... |
