A move which results in my being chip leader or busted
32 people in tourney, 4 cash. 10 remaining. I am at approx. 3600 chips, approx 5th or 6th place. Blinds at 200 & 400, but doubling in 2 minutes.
Fold to seat 3, goes all-in for 900. Seat 4 calls, he started with approx. 3900. Fold to me in cut-off, holding A-K suited. My thoughts: #1)Seat 3 could have anything, but my guess is a couple of decent overcards. Seat #4 has been pretty aggressive. I don't know if he only called because he isn't that strong, or if he's very strong and wants others to enter pot. I decided he probably has a small to mid pair. Do I push all-in, hoping to keep everyone else out, possibly getting seat 4 to fold, -or- Just call and wait to see the flop. The problem with calling is that it could allow one or more of the remaining three players to enter the pot as well, which I don't want with my hole cards. Basically, I figure if I do end up all-in, winning the hand puts me in the chip lead, or very close. Losing obviously knocks me out if seat 4 calls. Or, I could bail completely and wait for a stronger starting hand. Give me your input, and I'll fill you in on what happened in a couple hours. |

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED
Glad to see that pushing wasn't a bad play. I pushed, seat 4 called. Seat 3 turned over K-Q offsuit, seat 4 had pocket 7's. I was glad my reads were on spot, but the flop came 4-4-2, turn was a 5, river another 4. I busted out, but didn't feel badly. Thanks for the input.
