Many Scandinavians that play casual poker, both live and online have heard about the new US legislation.
Here are some of the comments/explanations that I have heard about the current situation: - It's just a matter of time before the same happens over here. - This happened as a result of a recent wave of homeless people in the USA. Too many people lost everything gambling. - It's only rumors spread by the smaller sites to provoque a migration of players from the bigger sites. - Can you play poker online now? Get out of here! - I read the mafia was not making enough money at their casinos in Vegas and threaten the gvt to pass this bill. - If you haven't noticed, we are not April 1st yet. - Online poker is rigged and the Yanks found out about it. - Muslim countries were financing terrorism with online gambling sites. - Do you think they will let Americans play at Ladbrokes now? - Sir, if you don't stop talking about online poker, the casino will have to ask you to leave... - You promissed not to talk about poker tonight! (angry girlfriend) - The oil prices are so high that they are trying to stop the cash flow to foreign countries. - Honey, you should take a break from poker while the dust settles. Tomorrow I will go shopping for some new lingerie... (lucky bastard) |

I love Scandinavians. For pure humor though, nothing beats a New England accent. I was at Foxwoods yesterday for some live play, and attracted questions just by wearing my Poker Stars jacket.
Him: [taps me on shoulder] Hey, you, uh, you play on Pokah Stahs? Me: Yes. Him: Oh man, maybe you know about this then: Is Pokah Stahs outta business? I mean is online pokah done, cuz of that, uh, that thing they signed? Me: No. The bill only banned financial transactions to gambling sites, so in using Neteller you're fine. Anyway, a lot of sites have said they don't care. Him: [reaches into wallet and proudly shows me his Neteller debit card] As a side note, this was not the only guy I ran into yesterday who thought that online poker had been banned and was now inaccessible to Americans. |

These were hilarious, especially ...
Sir, if you don't stop talking about online poker, the casino will have to ask you to leave... |

Good observations.
I just want to clear up one fallacy. There are no homeless people in the US. They have been reclassified as Urban Outdoorsmen. |
