Good2CU's got it twisted. The cold caller isn't a winning stars regular, or at least Sharkscope shows him on a 250K downswing (-$20K overall) leading me to believe that his cold-calling range isn't that tight. I agree with everyone who said that bigjoe isn't pushing AA/KK and that the cold-caller has something like 88+,AJs+.

Losing in 5k HU matches is far differnt then losing in full ring SNGs.

According to those ranges, we're 36% to triple up here.

With this many players left, cEV should be close to $ev, right?

So that makes it close but still a call.

[/ QUOTE ]

With those ranges it's bad imo.

AT the start of a ten person toruanment (which is not this extact situation, tripling up would be less valueable at this point)

Tripling up would give you: 25.5% of the prize pool.

Everyone else who was still in would have 10.64% of the prize pool.

People who busted would have no chips obv.

[/ QUOTE ]

You are only needing 38.24% chance of winning here, but I doubt you have it with QQ, unless cold caller is very bad indeed.

Ok first hand of a tourney.

t1500 chips = $1k
t0 chips = 0
t3000 chips = $1700

or something like that

[/ QUOTE ]

There have been some empirical studies and lengthy threads to suggest doubling up early = more like $2k in equity. Also doesn't ICM say the same thing? (I'm travelling and can't check right now.) My gut tells me it has to be closer to $2k than $1700. No idea about tripling up early, but it's not $3k obviously.

HesseJam in 2005, then we revisted it this year. I'd search for it but I'm not going to do all that work just to get berated and called retarded. I'm on the clock here and on an effed up keyboard. Someone else can put in the effort.
