Default PP Jackpot tables

I first though these Jackpot (Monster before?)were for suckers as there was a bigger rake.

But in "Gambling Theory and Other Topics", Malmuth seems to be saying these Jackpot games are an advantage.

As I don't understand, please help.

Thanking you in advance.

Default Re: PP Jackpot tables

It can be worthwhile to play jackpot games if one of two things happens:

1) The jackpot has gotten large enough that it is +EV to play it.

2) The players are playing suboptimally and doing things that you can take advantage of. Basically the idea is that the players play badly enough to make up for the additional rake. An example of bad play during jackpot games is that most people will play ANY pocket pair at any time hoping to flop quads (that get beat). Also, players on Party would often play almost any straight flush combos for the same reason.
