In a tight game you can limp. If you raise you will only get action if your opponents have AK or a big pair. If you limp you might encourage weak hands to limp along or someone in late position to raise with KJ or something.

Most games are loose though and you can raise and many worse hands will call.

Grunch: Call with the first, raise with the second. The second is slightly better.

It all depends on the table, of course, if the table is tight preflop and you want value later on, check preflop.

its fine at most tables. what are you doing UTG with QJs? 77?

(i raise both of these, but i think limping is better than folding at just about every table)
