Re: How many of you have graduated to higher stakes?
[ QUOTE ]
Do you really think jobs have to be like that? Then you're maybe not imaginative enough to play poker in the big time. [/ QUOTE ] Most are similar to that. |

Re: How many of you have graduated to higher stakes?
Started at $2/4 about a 1.5-2 years ago. Playing 30/60 now and taking some shots at the 50.
I don't make $100k a year playing poker though as I only get to play part time now as a have a full time job as a lawyer. I'm fully confident that I could make well over $100k as a poker player if I played full time. |

The poster's name bears a striking resemblance to David Sklansky's name.

[/ QUOTE ] I can attest that my job was exactly like that, except replace 45 minutes of traffic with 1 hr. (San Jose, CA). Then I got this sweet telecommuting gig, found a side of the company I like a little more, and have a bit more flexibility. I could probably make more money playing poker full time, but with the uncertain times and the potential burnout I'm staying where I'm at until I get good enough at the game where it'd really be a mistake to keep my 9-5. (Probably the $100/hr mark - if I ever get there) |

Know what's fun? If you read the OPs posts out loud as if he were Tonto from the Lone Ranger. The cadence seems to work perfectly.

Re: How many of you have graduated to higher stakes?
Here's what I'm trying to point out. Suppose you give 10,000 poker players a couple of how-to-play-poker books and turn them loose playing internet poker. All smart guys and they know what good starters are and can say things like "preflop" and "donk". Don't you know that some number of them would be on a helluva year or two long rush? WAY up! Just through variance alone.
Now, think back to posters on this forum years ago, the poker experts -- doing really well on Party poker. Where are most of them now? Not playing, not posting... What happened? And why do you think Party Poker Blog REALLY quit full time poker and got another job? Yes, some few can apply themselves and get really good at poker. If they score big and make goods investments, they're set for life. But only if they're lucky; it all comes down to that. |

Know what would be even more fun? If you learn how to beat a moderately tough game or bigger consistently.
But considering your attitude, aint gonna happen. DY. |

Do you really think jobs have to be like that? Then you're maybe not imaginative enough to play poker in the big time. [/ QUOTE ] Name one 40 hour a week job that is personally rewarding, pays 100k+, and is relatively accessible to a young person of average intelligence. |
