This question comes up periodically. When it does, a bunch of stoners will assert that they play better. I haven't personally run any tests to see if it's the same group of stoners.

I'm not going to seriously speculate whether someone plays better stoned or not (although my gut is to doubt it), but I can be pretty sure that people who are high generally overestimate how well they're performing.

I'm very ADD and after I've smoked, I can focus attention on poker far more than I can normally. Usually I am surfing 2p2, multi tabling and playing an online game...I can focus on only poker after a smoke.

"Even when you are high, don't call a raise if you are up against a man who you are sure has a hand, if you are up against two or more players, or if your cards are not live."

Concerning the recent news that marijuana helps to prevent Alzheimer's, poker players might wanna consider partaking for the sake of their long term game.
I'm gonna hafta to give the old hippies a little bit more respect at the tables....wait a minute, no I'm not. |

I think this gets discussed like once a week on this forum and the texas hold em forums. There have beens some good threads on the topic, and some really lame flame filled threads as well. Do a search for "poker and pot" and marijuana and weed and you should get some hits, no pun intended.
