Oh sorry, I thought you were making a general statement, not referring to this specific hand. My fault, I agree completely in this case.

Right, but why would you peel with 99? You have two outs if behind and a villian who will almost always bet the turn. You need to fold the flop or say "see you at the river". [/ QUOTE ] I call this down hoping the villain doesn't improve, not hoping I will improve. So, if an ace or a king or a third club hits, I'll re-evaluate my call down decision on the turn. |

This was a slightly confusing read at first.
subject line says "Do you call this one down?" Then in the original post he asks, "Time to give up already?" And then a couple people respond, "Yes" |

Hands like this you feel like an idiot when he has a Q and a genius when he doesn't.
I take this to showdown usually. Think of what hands you would c/r on this flop. Also, a play i make sometimes is 3bet the c/r and maybe free-showdown the turn or check the turn call the river. I think this line has a little bit of merit becaus some players MAY fold a weak queen, as we've shown a ton of strength the whole hand. + both lines make more when we hit our 2 outer and lose less when we go to showdown. It's a suggestion to be debated. |

If someone's check-raising with a weak Q, I find it doubtful that they would then give it up for a 3-bet.

[ QUOTE ] Let's say you call, and another club falls on the turn. Still calling down? [/ QUOTE ] This question disturbs me because calling the flop and folding the turn is basically never right [/ QUOTE ] Not with a club, but without one it would be closer. Against certain opponents it could defenitely be correct to intend to call down unless a club comes, if we didn't have one. |

Showdown, here we come!! With this guy's stats I may fold if we're at a full (6-hand) table, but 4-handed I'm not going to get pushed around when one over hits.
I like 3-betting flop as I want people to know that when they throw a bet at me they're going to have to call another one as well. Turn - bet "safe" card, check dangerous (AK maybe J)through and call river bet. If he donks dangerous turn I may give it up. Caveat here is how he views you. If you've been playing as aggressively as you should, he can put you on a very wide range that his AK/AJ/88 etc is ahead of. If by some chance you've been a nit in a 4-handed game, respect him more and I take back what I said about showdown. |
