Re: Day Trading
[ QUOTE ]
I day trade Forex for a living. If there's interest I'll write a little beginner's guide regarding the pros and cons. Not tonight though, maybe tomorrow when I'm bored watching to see what will happen to the Yen after the NK nuke test. [/ QUOTE ] That would be great |

Re: Day Trading
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] trading wise its not as easy as it used to be but if you can find an edge but more importantly be disciplined in your approach and manage risk appropriately you should do ok [/ QUOTE ] Gee, is that all you need to do? Who knew it would be so easy? It reminds me of that similar system of becoming a millionaire. "First, get a million dollars..." [/ QUOTE ] well i don't think its that hard as a lot of the guys i've traded with will come and go as they make many good calls but they don't manage risk well by treating each trade with the same amount of risk....also another thing i've noticed is good traders are never afraid to take a loss, where as bad traders will hold and hope to get back in the green |

What do you bring to the party?
I'm of two minds here. As a ten year winning poker player I know what I bring to the game. I know what my edge is likely to be. With day trading I'm unsure what it is that a successful trader is bringing to the game. I want to believe it's a beatable game but...
Give me a successful trader and allow me to feed him quotes on a market that is nothing more than a random analog of a market. Can he successfully trade such a market? If so then maybe this yields up the essence of successful trading*. If not then no solid conclusion is at hand. All comments welcome. * In my small amount of research the key seemed to be labled as some variation on managing/limiting risk. |

Re: What do you bring to the party?
To a day trader, looking at intraday time frames, the market is absolutely not random...

99.9% of you random internet poker junkies who think that day trading is the thing to do after the money transfer law is signed are on the road to busto [/ QUOTE ] I actually disagree with this, so would you care to elaborate on why you think smart successful poker players don't have an advantage and skill crossover to trading? ps... It's really business as usual for playing poker, minus a few sites... |
