I'm sorry, but which part of this hand isn't more or less just business as usual for a big live NL game?

I bet you they felt clever for folding too since the kid can't possibly be lying since he showed his hands to three people!

How is this angleshooting? The other players at the table didn't say anything right? Also, no one told the players in the hand to fold. I bet you they felt clever for folding too since the kid can't possibly be lying since he showed his hands to three people!

And when does giving off false information be considered as a scumbag move? Are players that trapped me with their monsters by showing weakness scumbags?

[/ QUOTE ]

i might agree this is not a scumbag move, but i think your reasoning is shakey. how can you differentiate between this and a scenario in which an angleshoot that most people say is a scumbag move. examples would be what grim did, and something like looking down at aces and then pretending like you didn't see your cards. or saying that you would fold preflop to let 2 guys move in blind, and then calling when you see a good hand. in all those cases the person is giving off 'false information' so that can't be what is going on here. maybe its just because of custom, where one angleshoot has been generally accepted for so long, while the others haven't.

yea seriously...this is not an angle shoot by any stretch....
I talk about my hand all the [censored] time. Its part of a strategy...
Ive even been told "id go to hell " for lying about my hand to the opponent, even tho thats like the least of my worries about being hellbound

I think he's pretty obviously lying. If I was to believe what he said, I'd say "well if you really don't want me to call, show me your set". I mean if he honestly didn't want to get drawn out on, he'd SHOW his set; since he didn't, I'd be inclinded to think he's weak.

I don't really get how this is a scumbag move. Anyone watch poker tournaments on espn. Jamie Gold talked about his hand the whole time during hands, etc, etc, etc.

WTF!!! Wouldn't it be more of an angelshot if he was telling the truth about his hand in a 3 way pot...

HEK,

"His exact words were (as PFR was debating calling): "If you have a Queen, it's no good. I have a set. I'm shortstacked. I don't wanna get outdrawn by a flush draw or anything."

You guys think this is ok?"

Yes, that's perfectly fine. It is acceptable to lie about your hand.

Prev,

The distinction is between things where you're lying within the context of the game and lying outside the context of the game. The latter is generally seen as scumbag behavior.
