I've only had this conversation a few times in my life

[/ QUOTE ]

WTF would compel you to have a conversation about this more than once?

[/ QUOTE ]

an inability to acknowledge when one is an ignorant jackass

bass players only add harmony to the melodies others provide. hell most rhythm guitarists do about one tenth the work of a good drummer. lead guitarists are such douchebags with their heads so far up their asses and singers don't qualify because you have to be human to be a musician. orchestra musicians just read from a [censored] sheet and only three out of the eighty do anything a twelve year old would struggle with. really the only 'musician' ever to live was JS Bach since he improvised a five part fugue and organ players accompany themselves with their FEET for chrissakes.

so really music hasn't existed for around 300 years, we might as well tell all those guys to hang it up and get real jobs.

Haven't you ever heard African drumming? It's all bongos, etc. so that's not music to you?

This I object to, even if it is sarcasm.

what is music; it is sound. most ppl consider music to be only sound that is appealing to the ear (popular scales, chords, instruments). the typical mind is atracted to these sounds more than to others.

dums/procution/chromatics are frequencies as timbres just like any other sound you hear (including musical instruments) just with destinct sound. So I establish that preuscion = instrument of music.

if one playes an instrument he is a musician. drummers are musicians. just like they guy rattling loose change in his pocket is. aswell as the guy shredding it up on a guitar.

music, imo was born in africa region. war chants. dance chants. ritual chants. all tied w/ a beat. just hitting on wood or something. this eventually manifested into precusion focused "music". that later was combined with instruments to become jazz. eventually turning into rock, eventualy turning into sould rb hip hop urban etc...

thank the drummers.

btw i play guitar and am in no way a person who respects drums over guitar/piano/strings etcc....

I have worked as a session guitarist. I will say only this; The drum is the most important instrument.

[/ QUOTE ]

How important was 'the drum' on the song 'Yesterday' by the Beatles, or on 'Classical Gas,' or Led Zepelin's 'Going to California,' or 'Bridge Across Forever,' or a thousand other songs.

In my post I stated that the drums are potentially vital. Thanks for being civil in your reply.
