sharpie,

this is one of those hands where i think to myself "if i posted this on 2+2 and didn't bet, i would get flamed hard for it," even though i think betting is wrong. and it usually is.

honestly a straightforward and cautious player might not even give this much action with queens, so i think he basically has AA and just doesn't want to get raised

Why don't you think he will give that much action with QQ?

I don't see any reason to bet the river. Best case is that it is a wash. It looks like AA-QQ that is scared of AJ but there is no point in putting bets in when the best you can do is win it 50% of the time.

With a real advanced read it might be a bet. Like if it could be QQ that is scared of AA or KK (but not AA that is scared of Jx) then it would turn it to a bet. And if he really put you on AJ and you knew it, he would be somewhat less then a 2:1 favorite to hold QQ against AA (depending on your possible range) and you should bet. But if he just puts you on Jx then QQ is probably just a v small favorite. Of course he could also be getting tricky with TT or JJ.

Check behind. I think he got AA or also KK and is scared for the rivercard.
It's just like you said the only hand he can have you beat is QQ and as he played I don't think he'll get this aggr with it.

OP described the player as cautious and straightforward. i have seen players like that slow down after capping preflop and getting raised on the flop with an overpair. i'm just saying that i think it weights his range slightly more to aces than aces and queens

Why aren't you capping that flop or raising that turn first?

this looks like AA or QQ got scared, or AJ is getting tricky. I think a flop cap before this river bet. This doesn't seem to change our hand much.

I think u should check. I think that he probably holds AA or QQ (KK also possible) and he's afraid u have AJ. Against that range there is no value in betting. There is also a small chance he is planning a CR (not likely with ur read, but very small sample), which make the bet unprofitable.
