Do you think there are advantages having a 300bb stack when the rest of the table have around 100bbs? For example $1200 at a 2/4 table when the rest have about $400.
I think I am playing better when I do and gets away with more plays, maybe there are just psycological reasons for this and the other players respect me more and that I probably winning or something. If there are advantages it would be EV+ to take what you know are a coinflip early in the session if you have the proper bankroll for the stakes. Thoughts? |

you seem to get more respect when you have a big stack and people don't play back at your CB's unless they have a hand.

There are no advantages to having 300 when everyone else has 100 except perhaps psychological if they are weak players. But you would have that psychological advantage, most likely, just from playing aggressively with a 100 stack as well.
However, there is a big advantage of having a 300 or even a 500 stack if there is a fish with 300. So it often IS worth taking slightly -EV gambles to get above your initial buyin when there is a deep-stacked fish. Don't go nuts, though, EV is still EV and you don't want to lose too much just trying to get deep stacked. You never know when the fish will just leave anyways. |

Also if you are chasing a fish at higher limits, then the opposite might apply if there are regulars at the table who are deep.

I think having a big stack is great and there are several psychological reasons for this that work well together:
1) You having a lot of chips makes people think that you don't value them that much and they will be more cautious about bluffing you 2) Your bets will be called more liberally also, when I have a big stack, I don't need to reload every hand, which makes playing a l more peaceful for me, personally |

There is an advantage to have like 250bbs against good player as well if he is somewhat straightforward if he has 250bbs as well so he is less inclined to call a second barrel in a reraised pot for example without a good hand, because the risk is much higher for him. Especially with position on him. Right?

Maybe. If he is a good player, maybe he'll be more likely to call a second barrel because there's still room to bluff you off your hand on the river? It all depends, dude...

[/ QUOTE ] Yes of course it depends, but if he is on the predictable side and have position its better to be deep than not unless you are afraid of the money!? |
