Did Firepay issue a similar "business as usual" statement earlier? I hope not

You have to be mentally challenged if you don't think that Neteller is going to take the same path. What payment options are left after that? e-checks?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah Neteller will certainly follow. Yes that leave eChecks until EFT's are coded and that goes out the window. Then you get Western Union for the sites willing to do some grossly shady stuff.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, except that Neteller has released a statement stating that it's business as usual. The banking sites are likely to differentiate on this stuff, just like the poker sites.

Nate tha Great what do you think the chances are that neteller follows firepay here. I have money in neteller and plan on using it in the near future. Any cause for concern?

[/ QUOTE ]

Who knows. Fairly low IMO until the regs are drafted but I don't take anything for granted in this environment.

Actually to calarify, you are referring to neteller's first statement.

Their second statement included this:

"
The Company, in conjunction with its advisers, is considering the potential
impact of the Act at this time. The Board believes that the Act may have a
material adverse effect on NETELLER's US facing business. Once the Company has
more information about what the regulations will stipulate, it will have a
clearer view of which companies are affected, how those companies will be
expected to comply, and any possible resulting impact on the Company. In the
meantime, the Company will continue to monitor the progress of this legislation
and to energetically plan and adapt NETELLER's business to minimise any
potential adverse impact. The Company will remain focused on developing its
business in line with its stated strategic objectives including geographical and
product diversification."

If Neteller bails, that would make sense. My question is, just as it seems we'll always have a site to play at (at least one that will defy the govt.), how likely is it that there will likewise be one company that will still accept U.S. money, and process it effectively?

Now hold on a second here.

Nothing says Firepay won't stop dealing with US customers, just US "gamblers". If you go ahead and move your $ before this deadline, you should be set and your money will still be safe once it hits Fire before they make this change.

Now, if Neteller makes a fast decision on Friday to follow suit, a lot of people may be stuck with $ in their poker accounts.

My plan is to nearly empty my poker accounts to Neteller, probably Wednesday, giving time to hit my NT account. If on Friday, the sticky brown object hits the fastly moving object, at least I'm out. Once things settle over the following days, can always get back into the game.

Maybe I'm playing to too safe, but, I'm not playing for a living anyway.

(My 2 euro cents.)

I never understood why people used Firepay over Neteller anyway. $6 to deposit and $10 to withdraw vs free EFT's?

How about we include the Neteller and Firepay statements on Berge20's sticky?

People that live in Maryland (perhaps other states) cannot use NETeller. Also, NETeller is a hassle without credit history.

This isnt THAT big a deal, except it will cause some of the fish to leave the game of course. I envision situations where foreign players at the tables will help facilitate transfers to Americans in need. Something like transfer them $100 over Paypal, then they in turn transfer it on Full Tilt or whatever. Trust would be an issue but maybe the sites could help with that.
