Optimal ASB%?
Has this been discussed and did any conclusions come out of it? I used to have a 35% ASB and was showing a decent profit. I increased it over the last 10k hands to 43% ASB and I'm still showing a profit but not as much. However I highly suspect these results are not firm due to the limited sample size at 43%. What do you guys feel is the optimal ASB%?
If it helps in determining it, I have a 28/20/2.4 style game right now. Caddy |

Re: Optimal ASB%?
Over my last 26k, I'm at 41%.
When I filter for "chance to steal and raised" I'm at .30 BB/hand. |

Re: Optimal ASB%?
60K hands. ASB is 35%. .41BB/hand.
Asking for an optimal ASB% is pretty silly. It's totally dependant on your personal style, the level you play and the opposition you're against. |

Re: Optimal ASB%?
1.) ASB is a mixture of how often you open raise in the cutoff, button, and small blind. With the exact same standards in each position your ASB will vary depending on your position because your opportunities in these 3 positions will not be evenly distributed in every game you play.
2.) It's silly to compare BB/hand without taking into position and opportunities. My attempt to steal is 0.001% but I make 4.00 BB / hand when I steal. Compute BB/opportunity for each position. Also sample size probably prohibits any meaningful analysis here. 3.) No one who posts here knows what the optimal ASB is in an LHE game. All we are doing is imitating the style of successful players without exactly which hands are profitable and which aren't. 4.) I suspect that having a high ASB is not "optimal" in the sense that it leaves you open to be exploited. However I think most of our opponents actually make incorrect adjustments and continue to give you their money when you steal what would be "too much" in a game full of 100% perfect players. |
