college shrink

If you go see the shrink at college do they put it in your record? I read somewhere that they kicked someone out of a major school because they deemed them mentally unstable or something...

No way can this possibly be legal, doctor patient privilege is highly protected.

I dont know exactly. I had to see one in college for a bit and I know i had to sign a disclosure agreement that said my doc wouldnt tell anyone but that the information could be later requested in future situations. I dont think it went on my academic record though?

Just don't tell them you want to kill someone. They have to report you if you say that.

So, some unnamed school might have expelled an unnamed student at some point in the past possibly due to mental instability?

I'm sure that has happened. But, that doesn't mean you have anything to worry about.

I know at some colleges, you can be kicked out of dorms if you are deemed suicidal. Something with liability/insurance or something.

Perhaps what OP is referring to is some kid told his shrink he was going to kill himself. The shrink (who might not be a shrink at all, some upperclassmen sign up for these gigs so they can put it on their resume) decides he doesn't want to sit back while this kid goes and ODs on valium, so he alerts the authorities. The university helps the kid out, but per the university regulations, he is required to leave the dorm due to suicidal behavior.
