Default Where should I take my SH game from here?

I currently 4-table Party 5/10 6max game with a 28/20 style. I've beaten the game for roughly 2bb/100 over a fairly substantial hand size. I'd like to increase my tabling from 4 to 6 for more earnings.

Should I:

A) Drop my VPIP/PFR back down to a 24/17 ABC style because of the added tables and expect a 0.5-1.0BB/100 decrease?

B) Keep my 28/20 style which seems to be working and expect a 0.5-1.0BB/100 decrease?

C) Don't move to 6 tables, but instead move up to 10/20?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Caddy

I always liked moving up and cutting tables over increasing the # of tables. You may be sacrificing some $ but you become a better player and if you succeed you more then make up for the money that you lost.

I've thought about this. But what about rakeback? It doesn't increase that much between 5/10 and 10/20. I think it increases by like 20% or something. However adding 2 more tables is a 50% increase in RB.

So for example if I currently make $18,000 / month on avg. 4tabling 5/10 (rakeback inc.) and I jump up to 4-tabling 10/20 but my game decreases from 2.0bb/100 to only 1.0bb/100, thats only like a $2,000 increase in earnings. The pro's = less headaches, the con's = I gotta keep a bigger bankroll online, more variance I believe, missed out on potentially more earnings 6-tabling 5/10.

I think what you say about improving one's game is very viable too though. Just some extra thoughts to consider.

I think trying to answer this question right now is impossible.

Rakeback is just a part of your winrate. It's not free money..

I would stay at 5/10 and add some tables if I were in your shoes, as the rakeback generate a lot of $/table hour.

Another factor to consider is your goals, if you want to stay and grind it out to the maximum, or if you have ambitions to play at higher limits in the future.

Another idea is to try to mix it up a bit, just to keep you focused and get your mind out of the "routine". Play some 5-6 tables of 5/10, and sometimes some 10/20. The best of both worlds.

Play 2 tables of 5/10 and 2 tables of 10/20.

While earning a lot of money is nice, dont forget about moving up. 10/20 obviously doubles the stakes, lowers the rake impact and gives you more rakeback, plus it isn't *that* much different than 5/10. I would spend a month getting comfortable at 10/20 with limited tables and then focus on moving up.

Once you hit 10/20 you can really start climbing the ladder.

Why is this even being discussed? You realize that five days from now PartyPoker dies, right? I expected this thread to be discussing... you know... where you were going to be taking your game.

I agree completely. It can only make you a better player, and personally I think that is the overall goal for anyone in these forums.. With a healthy bankroll and a sturdy confidence that you're beating lower limits, moving up is clearly the best option IMO.

Good luck man!
