Re: Congresswoman says bill does NOT ban online poker
Could this great congresswoman attach a bill making online poker offically legal in the US to some sort of bill that is going to pass easily the way Bill Frist did? I sure hope she can and that she does.

[ QUOTE ]
"Despite its misleading name, there is no getting around the fact that this bill very clearly and specifically states that betting on horse racing over the Internet is not prohibited. The same holds true for lotteries, which enjoy special protections under this legislation. And despite the misinformed and misguided claims of this bill’s supporters, it would neither prohibit Internet gaming, nor increase the enforcement capabilities of the United States government,” said Berkley. [/ QUOTE ] exactly..she doesnt say it, just the same things she's been saying elsewhere..ie pointing out the hypocrisy of banning online GAMING while exempting horseracing, lotteries, etc. She has never single out poker in anything ive seen. the credibility of the magazine..if it ever had any...is shot. |

Let me also point out she is correct, the new bill does not ban online gambling, existing laws already have, especially in her state. |

Re: Congresswoman says bill does NOT ban online poker
QUOTE: Any congessman's opinion on this bill are about as important as mine right now. They really don't matter. What is important is their attitude and desire to do something about IG in the future.
this is close to the point of the matter. at this point, all is heresay. the damage has "partially" been done. everybody can ask..."where do i play?" or "Where is my $$ safe?" or "What do i do?" etc, etc. who cares what happens from here if it scares off all the fish? the more people THINK that the law changes things (even if it turns out to affect nothing), the fewer people will log on to play. and isnt that where you all make your $$ from in the first place? continue to hang by every piece of news all you want, but Frist & Co. dropped a HUGE bomb on the industry, and regardless of "meaningful" legislation or "enforcement issues," your win rate is going to suffer for quite some time. |
