Political Prop on Bodog-Will Hastert Resign.
Wording of bet:
Bet On: Will House Speaker Dennis Hastert resign from his position as Speaker of the House by October 31st, 2006? House Speaker Dennis Hastert must publicly announce his resignation as Speaker of the House, or his removal from politics completely, by October 31st, 2006 for all Yes wagers to be graded a Win. If Dennis Hastert announces his intent to resign, but does not officially resign by October 31st, 2006, all No wagers will be graded as a Win. Yes: +175 No: -260 Seems like great odds on the No. I highly doubt Hastert will resign before the midterm elections, and wonder what other people think. |

It appears he isn't going to step down, not sure. But I know Bush had said in a statement that Hastert was just as disgusted as everyone else about the Foley situation. And a few news networks had said they didn't really expect him to be replaced.

[/ QUOTE ] Nope: They are not shutting down account for US players yet: "Calvin Ayre, president of Bodog, has come out to reassure its players that it will be around until at least the law change is better understood. It has no immediate plans to leave the US market" |

Re: Political Prop on Bodog-Will Hastert Resign.
I'm starting to feel like these are loss leaders. Bodog puts up ridiculous lines with tiny limits. A few peanuts to try and make bigger sports players happy with their standard juice?
Not sure, could see it either way. The huge spreads on the props should help them still make money on them. But the ridiculous line-setting means there's often still a +EV side. And yet, if they were indeed making money on them, you'd think they'd open the limits up past $50. So they're either loss leaders, or they get a bunch of bad bets by lots of small players getting $25 or less, so they tolerate the players that continually win their $50 max. |

Hastert won't step down unless some new news item comes out. If it turns out Foley actually had sex with one of the pages, then that puts everything in a different light, and Hastert might be toast. Other than that, if he's lasted this long, he won't resign.
