Default cabbing to Absecon hotels

Hey guys

Trying to plan a last-minute trip to AC this weekend.

Is it possible to cab to the Absecon motels? Any idea of the fare? Would it be difficult to get a cab to pick me up at the motels?

I think since you leave the Atlantic City area, the cap at $11 or whatever no longer applies. And it's a good 8-10 minute ride to get to Absecon. So it can get expensive.

I'm sure if you called up a cab company, they'll pick you up at the motel. But I would expect to pay $20 or more one way.

You know, last time I was there I stayed at the Comfort Inn North, and I swear I saw a hotel van there (I was with my cousin, who had a car, so I didn't have to worry about it). Any chance there are any Absecon motels that run shuttles to the casinos?

You can literally walk across Atlantic City in an hour or so. It's only 11 square miles. Absecon is so close, you can't tell when you leave A.C. The "price" should be no problem. The problem would be "finding" the taxi from the hotel to the boardwalk. Good thing you are checking, because that is ONE LONEYLY STRETCH of road, between the boardwalk and Absecon. Atlantic City is cool. But, if those casinos weren't there, that would be one swampy, sea fouled/strange smelling, scary-when-it's-raining seawater place.

I've taken them many times and it depends on how far away your hotel is, but $15-$27 with the higher number for the motels out near Galloway. It is fairly easy to get back, ask the desk clerk for the number and just call one. It is very difficult to just hail one on the street (Rt. 30) There is a NJ Transit bus #554 that goes from the AC Bus Terminal out there for $1.75, it runs once an hour 24/7, I actually take that back most of the time.

Check rates at the Quality Hotel Bayside, I stayed there last week and it was operfect as a cheap hotel, just a mile or two from the Trop, probably a bit cheaper cab ride than to Absecon

"Absecon is so close, you can't tell when you leave A.C."

I can always tell because it's a scenic relaxing three mile drive across the bay before you get to Absecon. Atlantic City is an island and you cross a bay to get to it which is one of it's charms. One person's "seafouled/strange smelling" area is another's wetlands with great fishing, boating and bird watching. And, yes, it can stink when the tide is out, kinda like exposed mafia graves in the Las Vegas desert.

I did this a couple of months ago. It TOTALLY SUCKED and was more expensive than I expected. I can't remember exactly how much...something like $15 going to AC (ask the hotel desk for a taxi rec.) and $20 coming back. Also, it was pretty inconvenient in that I would spend 30+ minutes every day waiting around for taxis at my hotel, and actually had trouble with a couple of the drivers in AC who didn't want to drive that far and would refuse the fare.

If I go again, I am DEFINITELY not doing that anymore.
