Default Green Valley\'s new poker room

my friend lives out in Henderson and frequents the ranch a lot for their sportsbook. he told me they opened a new sports book and poker room on monday. i was curious how the new room rates in comparison to others on the strip.

The new GVR poker room looks really nice. It reminds me a lot of the Red Rock poker room. It is a huge improvement over the old room.

There is a podium at the front, so incoming players are managed much more effectively. New player management was my biggest beef with the old room, so I'm happy to see GVR moving in the right direction.

Here's a picture I snapped last night. It should help you get a feel for the room quality. Check out the wall of high def televisions. You can also see the poker tables have player comp tracking systems built-in, with LCD screens so the a dealer can see a player's name if that player is clocked in.

Been there twice already... it's a beautiful room, and in a livelier area of the casino, helping with the atmosphere of the room (the old room was pretty much stuck in a dead corner when the 'book had no action).

Yesterday at ~4pm there were 12 games going (2/4, 4/8, 1/2NL, 3/5NL) with interest lists up and growing for 10/20 and 5/10NL. 12 games at 4pm on a Thursday is pretty much Top 5 in # of games going at that time in a room in Vegas... I don't doubt the room will be jammed tonight.

And Frank, the new manager, is great... really good guy.

Nice. How is the NL action? I was there for a few weeks a month ago and stopped in at GVR often since I was staying w/ friends in that area. The action wasn't bad and the place was well run too. I was suprised to see Phil Gordon playing the $3-5 game. Does he play there often?

I don't know but I've also seen Chip Jett play the $3-5 there in the past. Maybe some of those dudes live near there.

I'm going to check the new room out in like 12 hours (after eating BBQ at Lucille's BBQ, which is right next door to GVR).

I'm pumped to check this new room out (and eat a little BBQ). YMMV.

Happy Pokering,

Howard

please tell us how the barbecue is, and compare it to Memphis Championship.

I used to live next to MCB, now I live at Arroyo Grande and the 215.

Lucille's is awesome! A whole bunch of us went out there early this year and the food was great!
