Hell, I'd move the Nevada and become a resident to vote for her.

Unfortunately, she is but a single salmon attempting to swim up the stream of Republican [censored].

[/ QUOTE ]My Congresswoman opposed it as well. Julia Carson (D-IN)

The thing is. This happens all of the time! Most of the
Pork spending comes from bills slipped in at the last
second. A lot of times the people voting don't even
know about it until its to late!

This often happens in tight votes. A lawmaker will vote
for a bill, and in exchange for his vote. A pet project will
be included into the bill. Most of the time this will be
funding for the project in his/her district.

Some of the dealmaking in this bill(port security) was the
Dems were not happy that the bill required that workers at
ports were to be held to the same standard as nucular power
plants and DOD facilities. These standards bar people with
criminal records from working within these facilities.

Many people who work at ports are "Union" workers and some
have less than stellar backgrounds. So with pressure from the unions the dems pushed to have the standards changed.

Full disclosure, am poker playing Dem campaign op. Leader can attach anything. The precedural vote to separate takes a majority, which obviously we don't have. '02 Dems fried by security issues, '04 superfried, (not to mention God awful candidate I did not work for), all Dem have sworn oath, never again!

Not to mention, D.C. is the show me town, and we have been generally deficent lobbying. The companies didnt muscle in money, (which alway talks, sad and wrong as it is). An we the players didn't make it clear that passing this bill would cost somebody alot of votes.

The Reps have a pissed off base, for a lot of reasons. This seemed like something they could give religious conservatives so the wouldn't stay home. It wasn't going to happened this year at all, but after Foley the Reps felt they better have some red meat with that bitter pill coming.
Sadly, we still should have been more ready for it. D.C. is f'ed up, that's why I won't work in gov't, just try to change it.

So if your guys voted against it ask if they will support repeal, and ask their opponent. I hope the players assoc. gets questionaires to the candidates prono so everyone will know where their own people stand.

I'm glad someone in Congress actually acknowledges the stupidity of attaching unrelated items to certain bills. She had to vote for the port security bill for obvious reasons, but I hope this video gets publicized so more Americans can see what a slimy move Frist and others made to attach the internet gaming law

The fact that the online gambling bill was attached to the port bill(or whatever its called) is a joke. This is what our government has come to. Of course this thing past . how the hell could anyone have voted against it during an election year?
