Country Origin - from MAC, IP Address?

How does Party or Stars know where the player is located?

Is it from the address listed on the account, IP address, MAC address?

Any guesses?

I don't know for sure, but it has to be a combination of your profile and your IP address. MAC address can't be used to identify your location and is too easily clonable.

The MAC address is the address of your physicall machine, specifically the networking card that the cable is plugged into. Your IP address can be traced to a geographic location. First go to www.whatismyip.com copy and paste the result and then, assuming you're in North America, go to www.arin.net and enter that into the "Search WHOIS" box. For me it comes back with a result listing the Qwest Corporation in Colorado.
