Question about graduation and job timing

Hey all,

I'm a recent graduate of UC Berkeley this past May. I've been holding out on getting a job because I traveled for a period of time, and had to deal with some specific family issues.

While I believe I can support myself with poker, legislation and other long term concerns are making me wonder whether or not taking advantage of my degree is of critical importance.

So I've been applying to some jobs for a couple of months using my school's career website, and haven't had much success. I have an economics degree, and am looking to go into some sort of research/investments/banking industry.

My question is when do I need to begin to worry about employers not looking towards me because I don't have a job? I can certainly write that I had personal issues to deal with directly following college graduation, but I'm still wondering how it can affect my ability to get a job.

I'm no expert, but I'll pass along what I've been told.

It doesn't really matter. Lots of people travel or do other things after graduating college before they settle into the grind of the 'real world', and also take time to consider a variety of options about their future career, so don't sweat it too much.
