It's much easier to isolate the fish when you play 6max.

More hands vs. fish = more monies.

i was running really well at full ring and i changed to 6max anyway. i still run really well and i actually enjoy playing.

as danny said, relative hand values change. starting hands that make good top pair hands (KQ, etc) go way up in value. as usual, it's still better to be the aggressor (and probably more important).

didnt you enjoy playing FR? Because I dont have that prob...I think I need a pretty good reason (ie more $$$) to change to 6MAX.
I havent really heard any big advantages that would make the choice to go to SH-games obvious or even more profitable. Did you end up making sign more money??

Thanks for your advice

honestly dude, if you're in the US, i wouldn't even worry about switching now. just do what you know until you can't do it any more. no sense adjusting to a "new" game when you won't even be able to benefit from the adjustment period.

I switched from 6-max to full ring more than 6 months ago. I did so for three reasons:

1) Bonus whoring. At our level, bonus whoring can make a huge difference to your bottom line. You can get a lot more hands/hour at ring than at 6-max because you can multi-table a lot more tables. More hands/hour = faster bonus clearing. If someone can play just as many 6-max tables as full ring then obviously this is not an issue. However, the best I could do was 5 tables of 6-max, I play 12 tables of full ring.

2) Variance. 6-max is much higher variance than full ring. While you certainly go on heaters and downswings at full ring it's nothing compared to the swings at 6-max. Frankly I got tired of the (seemingly daily) 8 buy-in swings.

3) Live poker. There's no such thing as 6-max live games and I really want to be playing more live poker. Didn't make a lot of sense playing different a game online as live.
