From NL mtt to PL mtt....adjustments?
I know this is a more complicated question but if a player is good in large NL mtt's, will he need to completely re-adjust for pot limit mtt??
What are some of the most important differences to keep in mind other than "you can't go all-in whenever you feel like." Any key pointers will be appreciated. Thanx all! |

Re: From NL mtt to PL mtt....adjustments?
Check-raise is much more of a weapon in PL than in NL.
Raising PF is more important with good hands. Implied pot odds whaen early / deep may not be as good as you just may not be able to stack your opponent when you hit. |

Re: From NL mtt to PL mtt....adjustments?
It is easier to see a flop with speculative hands. More reason to limpreraise big hands. Sometimes play tighter with short stack, because harder to make steal and resteal moves. Less stealing later on because no ante and can't push.

Re: From NL mtt to PL mtt....adjustments?
FWIW - I'm a fairly tight player and mainly play NL, but have been doing ok at PL $109 tourneys, and haven't really changed my approach that much apart from loosening up at the lower blinds (and bigger blinds if I've got a decent stack in decent postions) as you can get to see some relatively cheap flops. I have also cut down steal attempts when folded to me in cut off / button as you can't always get a big enough raise in to scare 'em off. So my stealing conditions have been increased.
Also, I push my big hands strong to build the pot to enable bigger bets to be made on later streets. Hope this helps! |
