Good time for a river minraise?
Playing 400NL and villain seems unremarkable (~500, I cover), haven't faced off with him in any pots.
Preflop: UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, MP (villain) calls, I call on the button with 75s, SB calls, BB calls. Flop: Jx/2s/4s It's checked to MP who bets 8. I call and everyone else folds. Turn: 8s/Jx/2s/4s MP bets 20. I called. I wasn't sure what he had at this point and I figured a raise might let a weak jack (j9, j10, etc.) off the hook. River: Jx/8s/Jx/2s/4s He leads for 32 and I minraise to 64... I rarely minraise rivers, but this seemed like one of those times when it was a good play. My thinking was that no jack would be folding to that raise and a pocket pair (9s, 10s, etc.) might look me up as well putting me on a bluff. I also was thinking that a re-raise/push would be an easy fold. Anyway I'm just curious what line is best here on the river? Raise bigger? just call? |
