Thanks, this explanation is helpful.

Re: $5/10, get 3-bet preflop, then flop top pair, so-so kicker
[ QUOTE ]
If he's been playing loose, I say bet. If he raises, you have the option to straight muck, but right here I'd put him on a weak ace, k-q, something like that. [/ QUOTE ] This is horrible advice. If you bet, he straight mucks his QQ-TT and calls with AA, KK, AK, and bigger aces and raises the turn. Just check call the flop and turn, and bet the river, this line never gets old, and QQ still can't find a fold on the river. |

I was under the impression that WA/WB situations occur when there is approaching a 50:50 likelihood of being WA/WB. Is this incorrect? [/ QUOTE ] Actually the justification for WA/WB is that Villain tends to fold worse hands and raise better ones when you show aggression. Technically the WA/WB line could be correct if you were ahead 100% of the time (although it's not called WA/WB in that case; it's called "slowplaying"). |

Usually yes. If you have some read that says you can't fold to a river raise, then either bet/call or check/call depending on how often you think you're ahead.
I would strongly recommend reading those threads I linked, this is a very common situation and a very standard line. |

Check/call, check/call, bet/fold...although if you believe he's gone into full on tilt then I might prefer a check/call or even bet/call on the river. That'd be my default here. I also will sometimes lead the flop, and then check/call a blank turn if he flat calls on the flop. I find that against a thinking, relatively aggressive player this line seems the most likely to get me paid off when I'm best, as I'm representing either a weak ace or king that might fold, or an underpair that tried to steal on the flop & is now willing to give up. It also confuses the hell out of a lot of opponents, so that even if he checks through the turn he'll call my river bet fairly often. The added benefit of this line is that it takes away his ability to wait & raise the big street when he does have me crushed...although it also gives him the chance to draw at a 2-outer for cheap if he takes it.
