$1.95 here, but all the surrounding towns are still over $2.20. Sheetz opened up last week and started a price war.

It'd be more fun if gas prices changed while you were pumping.

The republicans had ZERO control of the recent price drops. Anyone that says otherwise is an ingorant fool. Read the drum.

$2.17, north of Boston
$2.29 in the outskirts of the city where I live
I think the one gas station near the center of the city was still around $2.49, but this is no shock considering that station is always rediculously expensive.

Recent discovery rumors aside, significant post-Labor Day price drops are common (as are post-Memorial Day increases).
I don't think any non-emergency action by Congress could bring about an abrupt price drop.

Commonly cited reason for the volatility in price is the increased fuel demand during summer, which along with relative inflexibility in production levels and willingness of consumer to pay more (elasticity) allows the price to rise.

Also, I have heard there is a "summer grade" of fuel which is supposed to create less emissions since ground-level ozone is more of a threat during the summer. This summer grade fuel costs more to produce, hence the rise in retail price. Can anyone confirm this ?

I think $3/gallon for U.S. gas would be a good thing if
1) the extra cost was a gas tax that was offset by a reduction in our other taxes, and
2) the money was spent on improving our roads and research on future energy options

As it stands, all that money is going to the big oil companies and despot goverments, and that aint good.

See, this is the kinda comment that shows our stupidity. A gas tax would have to be added onto the price, and thus it would be even more expensive. Comment like big oil and despot government just shows how little Americans truly know about the Oil and Gas industry.
