[ QUOTE ]
I'm not defending my play preflop. Everyone was trying to get at this guy who was raising every hand, so I thought a good flop would really disguise my hand. The postflop show my cards was a terrible move that I regret now, but that needs to be seen in context. I needed information. I had none, having been at the table so short a period of time. I got the info I needed. That's not the point. The point was, how many times do you see this and what does the guy usually have. I know what he had because I saw it. I just wanted to see what people thought having only the info I had at the time. [/ QUOTE ] OK, here's the information you need, and it's very cheap: 1) AK is a pretty great hand heads-up vs. some random cards, and it gets better with about 50BBs overlay. 2) AK sucks hot sweaty monkey balls against 4 or 5 other players with semi-random cards, no matter how [censored] hard the flop hits you. And the best part about this information? You don't need to know jack about anyone you are playing with or how they're betting! It's still all true! |

okay, if i raised from the small blind, the bb would probably fold, because i would have to bet more than his usually $10. if i didn't everyone would call, trust me, it was this kind of game. the weak player played weak before the flop and would only continue if he hit or if no one else raised preflop. the other option would be calling the $1 preflop, letting the big blind raise, then 4 callers, then me reraising. obviously i was being too conservative. so i should have pushed here and hope either no one calls or only he does?

[/ QUOTE ] By completing the SB and then pushing you have enough equity (due to the$50 overlay) against any hand that is not AA or KK (though it may be close with KK). |

[/ QUOTE ] The only reason to limp here is because you hope the idiot raises and every one calls. Then you shove and pretty much no matter what happens, you've made money because: 1) no one has AA/KK unless they are the retarded AND passive (Ok, the idiot might, but the other limp-callers don't). 2) Even if you are called by a pair, you are 45:55 and there's a 50BB overlay. 3) If you are called by a non-pair you are a big favorite, and there's still a 50BB overlay. Sweet. 4) If everyone folds, you just won 50BBs with Ace [censored] high. |

[ QUOTE ] Shove preflop the second time around PLZ. [/ QUOTE ] qft [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, move this to micro stakes or something. Preflop is so painful I could not even read the rest of the hand. |
